Welcome to Reception
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) applies to children from birth to the end of the Reception year.  At Templemoor Infant and Nursery School, children join the Reception class in the year that they turn five.
Our Reception classes are the Bees and the Ladybirds.

Mrs Cundick teaches the Bees and Miss MacIntyre teaches the Ladybirds.

During these critical early years our key aims are to develop the children’s positive attitudes towards learning, social integration, personal organisation and independence skills.

Our classroom has different areas that the children can explore. Themes are changed regularly to make it an exciting and interesting place to learn. Children have continuous access to the outdoor classroom which enhances their learning further.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. There are seven areas of learning and development that shape this curriculum. All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected.

Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive. These three areas, the prime areas, are communication and language, physical development and personal, social and emotional development.

We also support children in four specific areas, through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied. The specific areas are literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.

The children also take part in a range of exciting events in Reception such as a trip to Manchester Airport, a Christmas Production and the Templemoor Mile.
